Another prime-time matchup promises to be entertaining as Week 12 of the 2010 NFL football season culminates with the NFL’s top two passers going at it in an important game that could very well decide who will rule the AFC.
On one side, we have Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts, on the other we have Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers. While the Colts have won all four home games this season, they return to Lucas Oil Stadium after a disappointing 31-28 loss at New England to face the again-resurgent Chargers, who after another slow start are on a three-game win streak.
Yes, this is the perfect time for the San Diego Chargers to humiliate the Colts on their own turf. Philip Rivers can match Peyton Manning when it comes to driving an offense through the air, so it seems a certainty this will be a shootout. The game within the game could be turnovers because while San Diego is approaching prolific levels with Rivers slinging it around, the Chargers have 22 giveaways.
The Colts typically take care of the football with just 13 giveaways, but the highlights all week have been of Manning throwing three INTs to the Patriots, including the last one while in field-goal range for a potentially game-tying score in the final minute. It’s difficult that Manning has to shoulder more of the offensive burden this season, there hasn’t been enough balance with RBs Joseph Addai and Mike Hart sidelined by injuries. But this is why the four-time NFL MVP is one of the game’s greats. He takes his shots and typically leads this team through the tough times.
